The Mandeville Fly-In is normally held annually on the eighth weekend of the year, as close as possible to February 20, and is sometimes referred to as “Weekend 8”. That date is the anniversary of the first cross country flight in New Zealand by Will Scotland in 1914. The flight was between Invercargill and Gore, only 15 minutes’ drive from Mandeville. This is a family day out and weather permitting, flights are available in vintage aircraft all day. Various additional vintage machinery will also be on display. The event is around 10.00am to 4.00pm each day. Entry to the Croydon Aviation Heritage Centre is included in the ticket price. Entry fee: $5 (adults) and school children are free.
